I have been keeping updated on the current political scene. Outside of sending emails and calling my senators and representatives, I have felt lost as to my options of speaking out and what to do that can cause any real substantial change.

I don’t have a big voice on social media, I think I have 1,000 followers across all platforms. Instead of focusing too much on what I can’t control, I wanted to spend more time on the ways I can make a difference and what will make me happier. In doing so, community has been the one word ringing in my mind.

I don’t have much disposable income and I’m not extremely talented, but if I spare what I can and use it for my community, maybe I can make some distinguishable improvements within my own neighborhood.

These thoughts and feelings have lead me to look into what I can do. I have found tutoring opportunities and organizations to give back to. I also plan to ramp up my social media accounts and speak on these things. I don’t want to overwhelm people with these topics, so there won’t be constant posting, but I will not allow myself to ignore these pressing issues like many Americans are choosing to do. Our constant ignoring of hard topics like politics, allows politicians to keep passing laws we don’t agree with and if we don’t speak, we will find ourselves in a country we don’t recognize.

Please use your voice to advocate for what you believe in. Please help in whatever ways you can. I’m wishing you all the best.
